Richard Harvey composed “Concerto Antico” in 1995 to celebrate the aptitude and genius of his good friend classical guitar virtuoso John Williams, in a way that would both complement and contrast the standard staples of the guitar repertoire. The highly demanding piece was also designed to stretch John’s technique with its complex and highly intricate writing. It is a suite of tunes based on old dance and song forms from different parts of Europe that has since toured the world and become a favourite of the Classic FM audience.¶
